I have found that writing about yourself is an excrucitating thing. I've attempted the task of writing this section several times, and have been dissatisfied with the results. Please bear with me.
My name is Kenneth Vendler and I am a technologist and oil painter. I grew up in rural northern Kentucky on a small farm about an hour north of Lexington. I met my wife over twenty-five years ago through this thing called the internet.
I am currently a BigFix Technical Advisor for HCLSoftware. BigFix enables organizations worldwide to manage their IT environments more effectively, from patch management across major platforms to compliance, hardware/software inventory, and mobility. I recently earned my BigFix Platform 11 Certified Professional credential (December 2024), ensuring that the solutions I deliver are not only reliable but also aligned with the latest best practices in the field.
My family and I reside in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. My wife and I have been married for over twenty years and we have three daughters, four cats, and a dog.
Technology has been a passion of mine since I got my first computer in 1999. (That was back when thirty-two megabytes of RAM would get you everything you needed!). Since that time of Windows 98 Second Edition, I have explored FreeBSD/OpenBSD, Linux, and macOS as well. I am an advocate for Open Source software as well as digital privacy. I have a deep interest in retro computing, especially when it comes to vintage operating systems. Here are a few links of interest: A/UX Server Penelope, Alpha: The History In Facts and Comments, and OS/2 Museum. Also of interest is the American Computer and Robotics Museum in Bozeman, Montana.
Growing up on PBS, I was introduced to Bob Ross and Bill Alexander, who ignited my interest in landscape oil painting. I have been painting for about thirty years. If you are interested in seeing some of my work, please click the Art link above.
